I Can Shock Your Face

This weekend I traveled to Birmingham with Roxanna, my coworker. There we trained for Vital Stim. Vital Stim is electrical stimulation of the swallowing muscles. You know when you go to P.T. and get a probe on your leg and they provide electrical stimulation? Same thing, just to the swallowing and facial nerves. It is a very expensive training, and our company is graciously paying for all of us to be certified. It is still controversial as to how well it works, but I have seen it help people go from tube feeding to eating regular so I am excited to try it. It was a very tough course and took our entire weekend, but hopefully will be worth it. Here is a picture of me "learning." :)
