- Turned 26 (2006) with an awesome dance party at the house where I was living
- Cut my hair off
- I will write a longer post about this later, but I had an experience with some pretty deep depression. After some pretty extensive treatment, I found out I have OCD. Life has been a LOT easier now, just knowing why my mind works the way it does.
- After that diagnosis, I started to become comfortable with myself, and "okay" with who I am.
- Bought a new car -another Corolla (38 miles a gallon baby!) after my car quit in I24 during work, an hour outside of Nashville.
- Started drinking Dr Pepper full time
- Joined the board for "Living Water," our single group's service group that raises money for wells in impoverished countries
- Flew to Colorado for our family summer '06 reunion- very fun
- Found out on that trip I love homemade pimento cheese.
- Went to Cedar Point with a good group of friends and rode some of the biggest rollercoasters in the world (summer -06)
- Learned how to live daily with OCD through friends, prayers, counselors, and medicine.
- Bittersweet-ly said goodbye to my best friends, Holly and TJ, as they moved to the Dominican to be missionaries (summer- 06)
- Organized and took a group from our OC single group to the Dominican Republic
- Got addicted to spinning
- Stopped spinning because of my knees
- Had several Puffy Muffin Saturday brunches with the girls
- Was in 3 weddings in 7 months- Rachel Griggs', Deedee, and Katie
- Celebrated Jon Thomas's 2nd birthday (Beginning of 2007)
- Started covering for work at a trach/vent hospital, which I LOVE
- Went to NYC with Mandy, Brooke, and Cindy- FUN and saw Hugh Grant!
- Saw Justin Timberlake in concert, which was actually quite fabulous
- Got broken into in the house my roommates and I rented in Crieve Hall
- Lost my crappy flute and my sucky computer in the break-in, and got to get a new laptop that didn't breakdown everyday
- Got the idea to look into buying a house
- Put a contract on about a million houses
- Started playing Otter Creek Softball again
- Learned how to catch a ball, as opposed to dropping into fetal position each time it came towards me
- Found out my sister was having another baby!
- Co-bought a house in an up and coming area in Nashville-Salemtown (right next to Germantown) with my dear friend, Brooke Henderson
- Made the switch to Diet Coke via my gateway drug- diet cherry coke
- Got a promotion as lead Speech Therapist of Intelligent Therapy Staffing
- Went to Gulf Shores to Amy Glisson's families beach condo with Brandon, MP, Jon, Josh, Brooke, and little Jack.
- Saw a shark swim 6 feet from me in the ocean
- Got out of the ocean and didn't return
- Moved into the new house with Brooke, a nurse practitioner from Texas and our housemate Amy Fulbright, our friend and cop
- Fell in love with the dog of the house, Tank Fulbright (he is a Chug)
- Fell in love with living walking distance from the farmers market (although I don't walk b/c I live in the ghetto).
- Had to say goodbye to my full time nursing home of 3 years b/c of the promotion- miss them a lot!
- Turned 27 with a casual birthday party of my 2 favorite things- eating Mellow Mushroom Pizza and watching Friends reruns.
- Started learning a LOT about the business side of the therapy world with my new position
- Got to work from home some- fun!- and actually very productive
- Started doing a lot of research about healthy remedies to OCD, and started buying more organic, eating for "brain health," etc
- Found out I LOVE flax seed
- Kept drinking diet cokes
- Found out Allison and Jon were having another BOY- to be named Isaac.
- Watched Brooke reconnect with some guy who she was in youth group together in high school, named Adam.
- Got settled into the new house
- Hiked a lot summer of 2007
- Watched Mama GRADUATE with her ANP degree!
- Went to Bartlesville, OK for our 2007 family summer reunion
- Learned where Fulbright kept the emergency gun in the house
- Started cooking a LOT more
- Whole Foods opened in Nashville- bad news for my wallet, good news for my health
- Became addicted to puzzles with MP
- Watched mom go through knee replacement surgery
- Decided it would be fun to join eharmony, just for kicks
- Met some guy name Matt within a month of joining, and agreed to meet him for my first eharmony date.
- Brooke went to see Adam for the first time in 10 years
- Went home to welcome my new nephew- Isaac Christopher Simmons
- Started doing PIYO some- Pilates/yoga
- Went on date with Matt from eharmony on Halloween night
- Flew to the Dominican the next day with MP and Marilyn Switzer for a week with Holly and TJ
- Had a FABULOUS time with them, learning about their ministry
- Caught up with my second mom- Tammie- and saw her new house
- Learned I can paint a sunshine (that's about it)
- Fell in love with the kids in the Dominican
- Found out Brooke and Adam are getting MARRIED in the next year
- Came back and went on 2nd date with Matt Andersen, and then a 3rd, and then a 4th, etc....
- Went home for Thanksgiving and loved on my nephews. Had Thanksgiving with the Vaughns this year
- Came back from Thanksgiving and met Matt's parents (I didn't realize how quick it was at the time, but now that I type it...)
- Found my favorite Nashville restaurant... Marche. Pear and Camembert on Buttermilk Currant Toast. Oh. My. Word.
- Found out (co-owner of the house) Brooke and Adam are getting married in MAY and she's moving to Tx in 3 months!
- Got to introduce Matt to TJ and Holly for the ultimate approval- he passed.
- Fell in love with the show, "Jon and Kate plus 8." (She cooks organic for a family of 10 for about $15 a person a week).
- Home for Christmas, fun with an almost 3 year-old on Cmas morning!
- Welcomed New Years with Matt (2008)
- Started working out more
- Introduced Matt to my parents at... you guessed it... Mellow Mushroom. Very good reviews :)
- Watched JT turn 3!
- Fell in love with the show, "The Office."
- Joined an organic CSA (COMMUNITY SUPPORTED AGRICULTURE) for the summer, thanks to the idea on one of my favorite shows "Get Fresh with Sara Snow." You can check out my CSA, fogghollowfarms.com.
- Tried to start cooking more veggies to get Matt to like them (He likes Lima beans, potatoes, corn, carrots, and sweet potatoes. That's its folks.)
- Watched Brooke pack up and move to Texas (REALLY SAD)
- Volunteered to cater Brooke's wedding in May (this May)
- Celebrated Valentine's Day with Matt via a hockey game (my idea) and dinner in (I made a pot roast- not very romantic of me, huh? Whatever it was good)
- Got the first flowers a guy has ever sent me from Matt- 24 long stem roses. Beautiful
- Made the most FABULOUS chocolate cake ever- with whole wheat flour. You can not believe me, but it's true.
- Decided to visit a natural, holistic doctor- fabulous- for a more natural approach to OCD (My psychiatrist with poor bedside manner said I would be on medicine for the rest of my life. I didn't buy that.)
- Gave up diet cokes, any cokes/ DP, and fast food for 1 year (my own voluntary decision) for environmental and health reasons, and just to try and break the habit
- Started a major detox through this doctor (3 weeks ago), where I can't eat dairy, soy, sugar, wheat, eggs, pork, beef, peanuts, oranges, corn... basically any foods that create a lot of allergies.
- Endured fruit/veggie/brown rice/olive oil week of the detox- last week (that's all I could eat!)
- Watched Fulbright buy the house next door and move out!
- A well was built in HAITI where Mama went for spring break, through Living Water (the committee I am on). Small world.
- Became addicted to the show, "The Biggest Looser."
- Watched Bethy move in last week, yea!
- Have been cooking organic veggies like a mad woman over the past 3 weeks and found out I LOVE roasted eggplant, zucchini, and squash.
- Bought a food processor- love it.
- Am starting to feel MUCH better with the detox- more energy, less anxiety
- Made the best homemade hash browns tonight
- Am taking Matt home to Searcy this weekend to meet the rest of the family!
