I have a nursing home patient who often comes in for different reasons to the hospital. I have a coworker who calls this kind of patient a "frequent flyer." He's a little old man, so you know this story is going to be good...
Him (shouting joyfully): "Honey! How are you! I miss you! How do I know you?"
Me: "It's Caroline, your speech and swallowing therapist! Good to see you!"
Him: "Good to see you. M! You are looking GOOD. Honey, I have got to get some gum. Do have any?"
Me: "No, I don't. But I have these cornflakes."
Him: "Thanks, honey, I just need a little something!"
Me: "Do you need something to chew?"
Him: "I want to chew on YOU a little bit!"
