We had the privilege of being invited to Kasibi to Lernord's church. It was one of the highlights of my 2010 trip! Leonard, our cook, has as to his home church in the little village of Kasibi. Which is about 40 minutes from our place in the middle of no. where. When we pulled up, we were escorted into the very small church building, where the usher arranged where we sat for 10 minutes until he was happy with our placement. At the end of church service, they take two offerings. The first for the church, and the second for orphans and widows. Then they had their "special singers" sing three songs, and then asked us to sing three songs. We prepared two and they .were okay with that.
After church, we walked about a mile up to Leonard's house, where he had prepared us the traditional Zambian meal of chicken, shima (basically a really ground down grit), tomato sauce warm cabbage salad, and cokes. And of course they made us a cake with their message on it. Love Zambian cakes. Afterwards, we danced. I mean danced. The local band came with their instruments and the kids danced. Leonard closed with the sweetest speech to our group. What a wonderful day!
When I showed Leonard this picture and said "Look we match!"
He said, "OOOOhhh someone will be jealous!
My sweet roommate and fellow supervisor, Kara.
Look at those moves.

They are so amazing!
The band- The instrument the man is sitting for had three
purposes. Drum, guitar, and a banjo.

Village shots
The villagers will NOT eat in front of us, even
though there is plenty of food to go around.
